AJ and Meg Morris

Battling the Mountains to Battle Leukemia

Who we are:

Meaghan and AJ Morris, a husband and wife biking duo from Southeastern Wisconsin.

What we're doing:

We will be participating in America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride, June 2, 2002. This is a 100 mile bike ride around and near Lake Tahoe CA/NV. We are riding through the Team in Training program, which supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

WHY are we doing this?

A number of years ago, AJ's sister (Who is currently training for the Iron(wo)man Triathlon) sent us a letter soliciting funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She had not told anyone (until the letters came out) that she had committed to do her very first marathon in Walt Disney World. We thought she was insane! How could someone who had never run a marathon suddenly decide to make the leap from a couple of miles to 26.2? We were soon to find out. She finished that race and quickly signed up to do a different event. After completing several marathons, a century with her husband, and encouraging her mother to follow suit - we became her next targets....

A few years later -

We are happy to be TNT alumni, too. When we finished our frst century last June, we realized why people keep coming back. The time and effort that you put into the training and the fundraising all seem so insignificant once you have met one Leukemia survivior (and then another, and another...). Seeing people that have been directly effected by the research and outreach efforts of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society makes all the time worthwhile.

What is Team in Training (TNT)?

TNT is the largest endurance sports training program in the United States, providing runners, walkers and cyclists with the chance to participate in the world's major marathons and centuries on behalf of the Society. Participants raise funds to support the Society's patient services and research programs.

What are we looking for from you?

Support, encouragement, stories, whatever you would like to share. If you are able to contribute financially, your donations would be greatly appreciated. AJ and I have committed to raise at least $7400 by May. If you can assist in the fundraising, we will ride the miles. We will continue to update the site and let you know how we're doing on our quest to ride another 100.
